On the road, again..

Merry Christmas! My roomies and I (and our roommates boyfriend for manpower) jetted off one Saturday afternoon in hunt for the perfect Christmas tree. Although, all I could think about while trailing all over was how "Griwald" it was for us to be hunting our own tree! It's a great thing our eyes didn't freeze over and we found our beauty!.I love our fresh Griswald tree. I am hitting the road for Salt Lake in 15 minutes. We've been dumped with snow in Jackson. Hopefully it doesn't take me FORVER to get home!

My New Obsession

My new addiction isn't using my new sewing machine or finding something active to keep me busy in the winter, instead I've become addicted to a smutty soap opera! If you want a gulty indulgence I highly recommend gossip girl. I recently purchaseed season one and have been hooked since. It's all I can do to refrain myself from watching the entire season in one sitting..Gossip Girls isn't for everyone. I would compare it to a high school sex in the city. It's super cheesy, dramatic and I love it..Not to mention the actress have the most beautiful clothes.
Hopefully you can become sedentary like me and join the gossip girl club.

you know you love me
XOXOXO

Long Time Gone

I am alive and well(hanging in there most days). Life has been chaotic the past couple of months, here's a bit of things I have been doing and thinking lately..

Many trips back and forth to SLC to visit my grandpa in his last days(will blog more about that later)

Moving out of employee housing into a new condo in jackson with two fun girls from Georgia

Feeling the pressure of the economic crisis within my job and wallet,

Attending high school musical premieres to support my famous movie star sis!!

Thinking of fun Christmas presents I can make instead of purchasing gifts

Learning how to use my new sewing machine

Mourning the resignation of my favorite boss

When visiting SLC, I wondered how I ever found time to have a job? :)

Figuring out ways to stay active in the rapidly approaching winter!!

Thinking about purchasing skate skis? Looks really fun and good for you..

Trying to carry on with life in the midst of the loss of a loved one

How did EVERYONE get engaged at the same time? Congrats Laura, Rachel and Ashley.

The 85'er

Saturday was a big day for the Roderick girls. My older sis Amber accomplished her goal of competing in an olympic distance triathalon, while I decided to torture myself and ride 85 miles in a local event in Afton, WY. Surprisingly it was a great ride! I wasn't sore until about the last 15 miles. I did the race with another girl I've been riding with here in Jackson. She and I worked together to finish the race in 5.5 hours. I really want a century under my belt before the summer ends..We'll see! Anyone interested??

That there Clark is a RV!

Here's Da Cub!
Ben was visiting his mom in Florida, then flew from Florida to Milwaukee to pick up his new 4Runner, then it was off to Pennsylvania to pick up Da Cub. He drove over 3,000 miles with his new car and the trailer in tow.
As you can see, Ben will do anything for a great deal! He got his new car for a steal and the trailer was a bonus!

These are pics he sent me during his travels cross country, I'll get some inside snaps soon!
Who wants to come camping with us??

Stanley, Idaho

For the 4th of July weekend I met Ben and Koda along with some of our friends in Stanley, Idaho. I wish I had a camera (still haven't bought one yet) with pictures to prove the beauty of the small mountain town of Stanley, Idaho. If I didn't already live in a small mountain town I'd consider packing my bags. This camping trip was exceptionally special considering Ben and I were campin' in style. We decided not to get married (yet) or buy a house, but better yet buy a trailer! I know, I know white trash right? but I am telling you, I am obsessed with that there trailer..(you have to start talking like a trailer owner to own one). Good times..
Once I was able to force myself to leave our trailer we enjoyed the river, lakes and mountains of the town..

The Salmon River is raging right now.We made it through the class 4's with no swimmers and Koda glued to the boat shivering with fear. He may not be quite geared up for the class 4's just yet. I think we'll stick to the Snake along with standard class 3's.

I had to call the trip short on Sunday to make it back to Jackson for work on Monday. Ben, and our rafting crew are spending the remainder of the ENTIRE week on the payette rivers in Twin Falls, Idaho. I am getting depressed just thinking about it:(
It's going be a rough week in the office knowing all my family and friends are on vacation without me! Please, call me, e mail me with distractions..I'll be needing all the help I can get..

Greetings from Jackson

I have officially been in Jackson for 12 days. My life has been nothing less than a whirl wind the past couple of weeks. I couldn't have made the move without bringing my maid Rosarita. Rosarita, aka Christee Roderick did EVERYTHING for me. Among her countless trips to Kmart my mom was my saving grace for the week. While I was at work, Rosarita was slaving away the apartment scrubbing the place from top to bottom. I would still be unpacking as we speak if it wasn't for my favorite maid! Thanks for your hard work mom, you know I couldn't have made the move without you.

Beyond work and unpacking, this week I finally got to enjoy myself and experience Jackson life. My roommate is from Georgia who has lived in Jackson for 2 years. I've begged her to take me on a new hike each day so I can become familiar with all the hot spots. I'll be the best host for all ya'll who plan on visiting.

Things are slowly becoming a reality. Summers in Jackson are priceless.

I'll give more details later..

Lots of mountains to see and rivers to raft.

Big News!

Well, well, well. I have some definite news that is worth blogging about. I recently took a job offer in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. No, it's not a seasonal river guiding job(although I hope to be guiding on the weekends) I'll be working full time, year round in Jackson. It's been hard deciding on whether to make the move or not, but I am looking forward to a new experience in a beautiful place!
I'll be working at the local hospital in town as the hospital's health educator. It will be a great opportunity for my career as a health educator..

Start planning the Jackson trips and come visit me!!

Still mourning

I haven't been blogging primarily due to the loss of my camera. I keep thinking I'll find it and be able to post my most recent pictures. Yes, I am in denile about losing my camera.
We had a fabulous weekend in Park City, which resulted in the loss of my camera. We watched the pond skimming at the canyons (for those of you who have never seen this act, it's amazing) they build a little pond at the end of the ski hill and the goal is to skim across the pond without falling in the water. Not to mention these people are dressed in ridiculous costumes..You can imagine the amazing pictures I am mourning over.
Soon after the pond skimming we decided it would be a great idea to sneak on the ski lift (mind you none of us had ski's) and sled down the run on garbage bags. I tell ya, end of the season parties make you do crazy things:) I've never been more sore in my life! (more fun video footage lost)

I am in search of a new camera. My previous camera was the waterproof pentax. Does anyone have recommendations for a new camera??

My Sis is Famous!

After three days of intense auditioning and over 800 people trying out, my amazing sister Haylee among 7 other girls were selected to be a principal dancer for High School Musical 3. I am so proud of her! This is an amazing accomplishment that was well deserved.

Look for Haylee Roderick in theaters.

Congratulations Hay Hay, I love you!

Ta, Ta Tagggged.

I've been tagged by Julie..

Q and A:

1. What was I doing ten years ago?
Hmmm. Ten years ago I was just getting ready to start my sophomore year in high school at Alta High. I was beginning my first summer of drill team practice (why didn't you all worn me that drill was going to rule my life??), becoming aware of the window of opportunity to the future new faces I would meet entering high school. For instance, all sluts from crecsent ha ha.. Love you all! (no but really, Indian Hills was better)cheers to good'ole indian hills!!

2. 5 Things to do today?
study for my anatomy test that I have in apx 3 hours..ahhhhh. Why am I in school again? beyond studying, some work stuff(I won't bore you with the details)
Begin packing for California, which includes laundry..
Relax..This daylight savings has exhaused me, I feel like I still haven't quit caught up on my sleep.

3. What snacks do I enjoy? Snacking is one of my favorite hobbies. I especially love to ruin my dinner and snack while I am cooking. These days my snacks consist of, chips and salsa, these yummy brown rice chips, my newly purchased girl scout cookies(I am rationing myself to one samoa a day), and crackers with cheese..

4. What would I do if I suddenly were a billionaire? I would never work another day in my life! Pay off all my debts, and my families debts, purchase my dream home in all my dream areas of the world, travel the world, invest in all the things I haven't been able to do because I don't have the time or money, donate money to charities, become a professional student(because I won't be working) but still belive knowledge is power,..okay, I think I'll stop there:)

5. 3 bad habits: The snooze button..I can't get out of bed without hitting the snooze button at least 3 times. Leaving a trail of ALL my stuff in the words of my mother "we always know where Carlee has been because she always leaves a trail of things behind" I have finally come to terms with this(sorta). Procrastination. Why do you think I am replying to a tag? because I am avioding studying..Classic!

6. 5 jobs I have had: Certified Nursing Assistant, Server, River Guide, Dietary Technician, Cancer Information Specialist

7. 5 things people don't know about me: I am secretly watching american idol this season, I always have wet wipes on hand (you don't wipe babies bums with toilet paper?)I am training for a triathlon and secretly want to be a professional triathlete, I still sleep with my baby blanket, and I am doing nursing primarily because I want to work only 3 days a week..

There you have it! I am tagging, Jill, Erin O, Kortney, Laura and Ash

I haven't seen this movie yet, but it was recommended by my grandpa who has cancer..I thought he was pretty brave to see the movie, when he can so closely relate. I work with cancer patients every day and have yet to see it.This video was forwarded to me from my colleagues.. It hits a little too close to home. Enjoy!

My Obsession!

Laura recently sent me a picture of Koda when he was a baby..I can't get over how little he once was. Ben is still researching on how to certify him as a human. We joke around all the time that he is a human in a dog's body:)

Finally!

I was beginning to think my blogging days were over. My blogging usually takes place on the job, but considering work has been rathar busy I haven't had much time these days. I can't even begin to give ya'll an upadte on the latest because so much has happened. I'll start with a list of events over the past couple of months..

1.Getting a new Car! For those of you who know me, I've always driven beaters..I am not complaining about driving beaters because my first car that cost $1000 bones has always been my favorite. 1988 Acura legend, my fav! Lots of memories in the legend..My personal favorite is when I hit a skunk. I am telling you, my car never smelled the same and the neighbors said they could always smell me driving up the street!! I think I smelled like a skunk for months:)

2.Camping outside circuit city Sunday morning at 6am to get Ben a nintendoo wii for Christmas. Now I am not a gamer, but the wii is amazing! My new fav is Rock Band. You need to play it, it's the closest I have come to feeling like a rock star.

3.Skiing with Koda. On Sundays we've been taking Koda backcountry skiing with us in the Uintas. (where I want to live someday) He's obsessed with the snow!

4.Laura and Ashley being in town. It was nice to finally have them back. Hopefully sooner than later I'll see them. Spring Break 2008 here we come!

5.Family. Of course, family and friends are essential during the holidays.

6. Ben being home during Christmas. This is the first Christmas he's been in Utah since his family moved to Florida 7 years ago. It was nice to have him here with my family.

7.Thoughtful gifts. I love recieving gifts that come from the heart. This year every gift was thoughtful and meaningful too me.

8.Park City. After Christmas I rented our family condo in park city and camped up there until after New Years. It was a vacation away from the city. I was surrounded by great company and fabulous snow!

9.Utah. I love our state. Winter is one of my favorite seasons of the year..

10.Not having school! I realize it is my choice to take more classes, but it was so nice not having class after work..

(Pics to come) I hope everyone has had a great past couple of months. I'll catch up on the latest by creepin' on all your bloggin'
